1940-1948 One Pound Banknote. Chief Cashier Kenneth Oswald Peppiatt. Serial No. Y45D 420899. Pale blue and incorporating the metal thread invented by S.B Chamberlain, the General Manager of the Bank's printing works. This wartime emergency issue continued to be legal tender until May 1962. This note has been fairly well circulated and has three fold marks.
